For a longer period of time North and South part of Sri Lanka has been the Tamil populated area. The land also belong to the Tamil speaking people in the country. Since land is the identification of an ethnic group that also in danger of going away from the hands of Tamil people.

From 1983 Tamil minorities are fighting for their own nation. Under the leadership of Prabhakaran Tamils formed an army and fought against the government to get land known as Tamil Illam. In 2009 the government with the support of some other powerful nations in the world defeated the movement and took control of all the country. Soon after the war the places where Tamil people lived for many decodes are given to the Sinhala speaking people to come and settle. The discrimination and the marginalization have taken in a new form to suppress the minority.

The civil war was over in 2009 after eleven years the Tamil communities are in settlement process. From the end of war the government is resettling the war affected people but it is at a snail’s pace. The military camps that were put up during the war are not vacated properly, forces are keep remaining in peoples’ land. Tamil people are annihilated in all the ways but they could not find the meaning for their sufferings. Mulikulam a small village situated in the Northern part of Sri Lanka which was severely affected by the war, during the war military took control over the village now the entire village is made as an army camp the people are scatted everywhere there is no proper place for them to settle.

Last month we had the parliament election and ruling party won the election by 3/2 majority. From the time of election the media was covering all that took place in the Country but during the swearing ceremony the national flag which was used did not have two color strips that represent the minorities of the nation. The media was updating all that happened but none of the Media or newspapers mention about this in their edition.

Discrimination of the minorities is taking place in front of everyone but even united nation also keeping quit at all the time. At the end of war more than a hundred thousand people died but the UN says there is no proper evidence to accuse the government. Everyone comes to power with the slogan of equal rights to everyone but it has not been seen for many decodes.
